Sara Traver

Sara has grown up living in the inner city for most of her life. She has lived in both the North end and West end and has been involved in a lot of Christian organizations throughout her years. Sara went into the healthcare field at the age of 21 working in homecare as a health care aide (with the plan of becoming a nurse) she sustained an injury that led her to be put off work for 6 months. In this time, she found herself volunteering in her children’s school faith academy which led her back into the inner city at their Pritchard location.

She was loving working in the inner city building bonds with the families and children of the area and after 4 years of being there faith asked her to attend their high school to work one on one with a student, 1 year later she found herself really missing the inner city and felt a calling from the lord to start a program in the inner city that helps teens get engaged in their community building self esteem as well as connecting them with schools and getting them set up to build themselves in a positive light.

She started planning and looking into different community involved centers to see what different programs were already in place for things like this when she found ICYA, a place where both her as a young child and her own children had attended over the years had started up something that was fitting everything she had envisioned. Sara met with the Engage team and since that she has joined their team, planning to bring great opportunities into the inner city.
