A big helping of powerlessness (story from The Messenger)
I was powerless. It was a real inversion as well. I was used to being the resource guy, messiahtype, to people in our community; and, suddenly, everything shifted and I needed a saviour.

A quiet girl with a strong voice (story from The Messenger)
The Christian Church has done so much for victim advocacy over the years, as it should. It feels like we need to be talking about how we relate to offenders as well though.

On October 3rd, a sold out crowd of 380 came to ICYA's Calling to Connect Banquet, "Voices of the Unheard" to understand our community and show their support. The attendees got the rare opportunity to view art and read poems displayed in the Galleria, composed mainly by our youth in jail, expressing their hopes & dreams, obstacles, regrets, mistakes, abuse and the desire for people to understand them rather than be judged.

2007 Community Christmas Party, Thursday, December 20th
Thursday, December 20th we are hosting our annual Christmas party for our community in the North End. The party gives us the opportunity to share the love of Christ to the families in our community by providing a festive program, a free meal and, if possible, gifts to every child under twelve. We expect to serve a meal to 500 people and give gifts to 200 children. So you can imagine the amount of supplies required to make the night successful.
