Alive at 25, Calling to Connect Banquet, an evening of celebration

At the "Alive at 25, Calling to Connect Banquet" on October 14, we marked a 25-year milestone of bringing hope to the kids in the North End of Winnipeg. More than 370 people looked at the life which ICYA has brought to the community, while celebrating the God who offers life to all.

Through testimonies, awards and photos we witnessed how alive our community is, focusing on the amazing youth within it. It was an evening of celebration and reflection on all the good that has been done. With the help of special guests Laurie Mustard, MC, and entertainers Cheryl Bear, JJ Lavalee and Simion Smith, the evening raised $133,875 from donors and sponsors. Thank you so much! You have fostered hope for youth and have nurtured dreams for tomorrow.

Banquet Information
For the Benefit of our inner city youth, the Calling to Connect Banquet will take you on a journey of hope, showing in pictures, words and art how we are all connected.

On October 14, we will look at the life which ICYA has brought to the community, while celebrating the God who offers life to all. You will witness how alive our community is, focusing on the amazing youth within it. It will be an evening of celebration and reflection on all the good that has been done.

		Master of Ceremonies: Laurie Mustard Laurie Mustard has been a Winnipeg Sun columnist since 1991. He has hosted numerous television shows, including Switchback on CBC-TV and co-hosted the Wake Up Winnipeg Morning Show on CJOB radio for 11 years. He is an emcee, auctioneer, keynote speaker and collects classic cars. He has been married to Marly for 35 years, has 3 kids, 5 grandchildren, 2 dogs, 3 cats, and hates winter.

		Entertainment: Cherly Bear Cheryl Bear is from Nadleh Whut'en Tribe (Bear Clan) located in northern British Columbia. She is an international convention speaker, evangelist and award winning recording artist. Her awards include the 2007 Aboriginal Peoples Choice Music Awards for Best Single, Best New Artist and Best Songwriter, as well as Native American Music Awards and a Covenant Award in 2008. Her music is powerful, telling the stories of her people, while celebrating the beauty of being an Indigenous person. With her husband Randy and their three sons, she has travelled to sing and speak about tough issues like suicide and residential schools in nearly 300 First Nations communities. (www.cherylbear.com)
