Calling to Connect Gala: A Shared Story

For the benefit of our inner city youth, the Calling to Connect Gala will journey you through 30 years of ministry. We invite you to experience a glimpse of our journey through shared stories  told through artwork, music, and spoken-word. Location: The Centro Caboto Centre, 1055 Wilkes Avenue, Winnipeg, MB Date: Friday, October 21, 2016 Doors/Galleria Open: 5:30PM Dinner: 6:15PM Tickets: $65 Everyone has a story. Each story has a message. At Inner City Youth Alive we are celebrating 30 years of ministry and the stories encountered along the way.   Every child, youth, staff member, volunteer, neighbour, and supporter have their own individual story.   Stories can be beautiful expressions of love, tangible moments of hope, genuine sorrow from loss, or times of hardy laughter. Stories have power. This power comes from the interpretation of the listener.  Stories hold power in our lives when we’re willing to listen, interpret, and apply the message. We believe that God speaks to us through our own experiences and the shared experiences of others. On October 21st we want to share with you the amazing work God has done, and continues to do, at ICYA.  Please join us for an evening of stories shared through music, artwork, photography, and spoken-word. 2015 Calling to Connect Gala – Pictures

Pictures from the Love is… Gala on October 30th, 2015 We all need love. At Inner City Youth Alive we are learning to see love through the eyes of youth in the inner city. To many kids here love looks like… a parent who works hard to make ends meet, an auntie who always has a couch available when home isn’t a safe place to be, a neighbor down the street that lets them raid the fridge when they are hungry, a foster parent that gives them a curfew, or a school teacher that genuinely cares (delete the part about grades?). There are beautiful expressions of love in our community. But sometimes love gets distorted or there are barriers keeping love locked away from those who need it. We believe in the kind of love that breaks through barriers. Together we can show these youth the unwavering love of Christ and of a safe space filled with people who care about them and their well-being. Please join us for an evening that will give you a fresh outlook on love in the inner city and what it means to the youth who live here. It was a wonderful evening and we are grateful for all the support and for everyone that attended. The gala featured artwork by Lennard Taylor, music by the One3Nine Band and entertainment by the one and only Fred Penner. Special thanks to to Bixipix Photography for capturing the evening.
