A once derelict home located at the corner of Powers Street and Redwood Avenue, now has a new lease on life. After nearly 2 years of hard work, staff and volunteers from Inner City Youth Alive have transformed a two storey house into a cozy family home.
Kent Dueck said when they purchased the house from the city fro only $2.00, the house was board up and in disrepair. Many people told them to just tear the house down and start from scratch, but Dueck said they saw potential in the home. Thirteen youth from the community were hired on to help out with renovations. Dueck says for many it was a life changing experience. The goal is to do another project like this one in the near future.
